For the Teenies!!!

This page is dedicated to ALL things Preemie!
The following sites are my two favorite

There are some things to keep in mind when you are making anything for preemies...
  1. Yarn choice is VERY important: You want it soft and NO Wool. I usually use Caron's Simply Soft, Lion Brand's Pound of Love, or Bernat Baby. They are all easy to work with, wash up nice, and hold their shape the best.
  2. You may want to make some hats that can be opened at the top Top Knoch Hat. Some preemies have tubes or wires coming out of their heads. These are great for those situations.
  3. As a parent of 2 preemies...I personally liked things with a more closed stitch. My daughter had a hard time maintaining her temperature and I found blankets with larger holes made it difficult to keep her body temp. up.
  4. When I make anything...I usually wash it first. However...I NEVER use anything scented. My daughter used to have issues with anything scented. ( we LOVED Dreft or Ivory Snow for all of her things; and used unscented drier sheets)
  5. There are also many things you can sew Bev's Country Cottage has nice patterns.
There is more I'd like to add to this page. However, This should get you started!
